
Mental Health Recovery Specialist

This position is for a certified peer support specialist who has experienced mental health recovery and/or substance use recovery.
The successful candidate will share their personal experience, knowledge, and insight to benefit the team and its clients.
Key responsibilities include engaging individuals with psychiatric disabilities who have had contact with the criminal justice system.
Responsibilities involve working one-on-one with referrals from mental health courts, probation, forensic liaison, and shelters to provide ongoing supports and help clients avoid incarceration.
Additionally, the specialist will engage clients prior to release from jail to develop reentry plans for a smooth transition back into the community.
After release, they will provide personal encouragement and practical assistance based on recovery tenets, promoting self-determination and overall health and well-being.
Requirements include a valid peer support certification and a valid driver's license with less than 6 points.
