Job Description

The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of dementia initiatives. As part of our team, you will be working closely with individuals living with dementia who are transitioning from hospital settings back to their homes or into residential care.

This position is ideal for those seeking professional growth and exposure to a new project. You will have the chance to build on your expertise in assessment and biopsychosocial approaches, applying practical strategies to prevent or respond to behaviour changes related to dementia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing reports contextualised to individual situations and people, effecting change on the ground and improving quality of life for people living with dementia.
  • Supporting families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts individuals.
  • Undertaking assessments understanding the holistic experience of the person and their care network.
  • Collaborating with Dementia Support Australia to build capability across home and aged care sectors.

Furthermore, you will contribute to research, projects, and programs innovatively meeting sector needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
  • Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
  • High-level negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health is essential.
