Policy Officer Role in Australian Army Cadets

The Policy Officer plays a critical role in delivering a safe and challenging program for youth. This position contextualises the requirements of higher-level direction and policy, creating organisational policy that facilitates the safe and effective operation of the program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and delivering a comprehensive assessment and update of organisational policy
  • Coordination of stakeholders and sponsors to develop fit for purpose policy
  • Advising on issues to ensure decisions reflect current policy requirements
  • Supporting the development of Defence cadet and youth policy
  • Assisting the delivery of policy awareness training to volunteers across the Program

This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent understanding of policies and programs within Defence, and the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
