Job Title: Disaster Support Specialist

The Disaster Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the Emergency Management Coordinator to prepare and deliver Council's responsibilities in Municipal Emergency Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the efficient and effective management of Council's responsibilities in relation to fire prevention and emergency management.
  • Issue permits to burn, fire prevention notices and infringement notices.
  • Act as the Assistant Municipal Fire Prevention Officer for identifying properties that constitute a fire risk and issuing fire prevention notices to reduce those risks.
  • Provide support and respond to requests for information within the guidelines of the Municipal Emergency Management Plan, Council policy and procedures, and Country Fire Authority, Fire Rescue Victoria and Emergency Management Acts.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in emergency management, project management or other relevant field, or demonstrated experience in a similar role and environment.
  • Completed 'Introduction to Emergency Management' and 'Introduction to AIIMS' or willingness to undertake.
  • Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven capacity to deliver proactive, coordinated and sustainable emergency management support practices.
  • Current driver's license is essential.
