Native Title Specialist

Working in a collaborative team, this role involves specialist work in First Nations and Native Title compensation. A key aspect will be engagement in ongoing Native Title compensation applications and mining disputes.

Collaborating with new clients to establish strong relationships is crucial. This includes contributing to the preparation and conduct of existing matters alongside other team members.

The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience post-admission working in Native Title and/or for First Nations clients, preferably litigation. Technical legal and analytical skills are vital, along with excellent influence and negotiation skills, as well as demonstrated network and relationship management abilities.

Candidates must possess high cultural competence when dealing with First Nations clients and deliver exceptional service. Duties involve leading Native Title compensation applications for various First Nation people across Australia, preparing and conducting existing matters, and developing/maintaining client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading Native Title compensation applications for diverse First Nation groups nationwide
  • Contributing to the preparation and conduct of existing matters

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4+ years post-admission experience in Native Title and/or working for First Nations clients
  • Litigation experience an advantage
  • Exceptional technical legal and analytical skills
  • Excellent influence and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated network and relationship management abilities
  • High cultural competence in working with First Nations clients
