Maintenance Technician
The role of a Maintenance Technician involves overseeing the operational and maintenance requirements of a hospital. This hands-on position operates independently and plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with legislative standards, accreditation requirements, and organisational policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing facility maintenance schedules
- Monitoring and managing supplies and spare parts, including procurement
- Implementing preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs
- Coordinating contractors and supervising minor works and maintenance projects
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements for essential services
- Controlling expenditure within agreed budgets
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date maintenance records
- Conducting site inspections, inductions, and work permit processes for contractors
- Participating in the after-hours on-call roster
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Experience in a Maintenance or Facilities Technician role (hospital experience highly regarded)
- Relevant trade qualifications and hands-on experience in facilities/building services
- A current driver's licence (mandatory)
- A General Construction Safety Card (White/Blue Card)
- Strong customer service, communication, and computer literacy skills
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and manage competing demands
- Sound knowledge of WH&S requirements, accreditation/certification processes, and relevant Australian Standards
- Familiarity with electrical, fire, mechanical, and hydraulic systems (knowledge of the AUSHFG Guideline desirable)
- A commitment to continuous improvement and safe work practices

Remuneration
A base hourly rate of $38.00 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
