Position Overview:
The Loss Prevention Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the warehouse environment. This position involves a rotating schedule that includes weekend shifts, with start times as early as 5 AM and end times as late as 11 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of the warehouse and surrounding areas to identify and address safety and security issues.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Costco's policies and relevant laws pertaining to loss prevention. Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay informed.
- Monitor for signs of theft, both internal and external, and report any suspicious activities to the Warehouse Manager. Engage in the Shrink Committee to address loss prevention strategies.
- When necessary, detain and question individuals suspected of shoplifting.
- Compile and maintain reports for internal review and potential legal action.
- Organize and preserve evidence and documentation related to investigations.
- Provide testimony in court regarding theft-related cases.
- Collaborate with other Loss Prevention Clerks and security personnel from nearby businesses to share insights on theft trends.
- Adhere to established Member Service protocols and general safety standards. Offer assistance in various warehouse departments as needed.
- Deliver exceptional service to members, employees, and vendors. Manage phone inquiries and provide assistance when stationed in the office.
