Policy Director

AusNet Services is seeking a Policy Lead to join our Regulation & Policy team in Southbank. As a Policy Lead, you will play a key role in shaping our society's transition to clean energy by developing and advocating on energy policy.
Key Responsibilities:- Agreeing policy positions and strategies on priority reforms, including business engagements to identify developments, opportunities and risks;
- Engaging actively and meaningfully on policy or regulatory issues with governments, regulators or industry to positively influence decisions made or positions settled;
- Collaborating and coordinating with internal AusNet stakeholders that engage with the range of stakeholders impactful to our policy positions;
- Developing positive relationships with internal leaders and specialists – building their support for, and understanding of, AusNet's position and advocacy approach;
- Developing and sharing policy insights over complex energy and industry issues from industry, research, AusNet trials and projects;
- Significant demonstrated experience working in policy development, and familiarity with policy or regulatory setting process – whether with industry, government or regulatory body;
- Experience in and strong understanding of energy markets, policy and regulation, preferably in regulated or commercial transmission sector, however, experience in electricity and gas distribution also valued;
- Tertiary qualifications within a related discipline;
- Outstanding written and strong verbal communication skills to influence mutually beneficial outcomes;
- Strong interpersonal skills that enable communication and collaboration with internal and external parties;
- Confidently operate independently and bring your own ability to organise and lead working-level teams on policy;
- Demonstrated ability to hold or develop 'trusted' relationships with senior stakeholders;
