Maxima, in partnership with the William Angliss Institute, are looking for an experienced Student Support Officer to work with the Koorie community.
The William Angliss Institute is a Government endorsed training provider specialising in the hospitality and tourism industry. With one-day courses through to apprenticeships and nationally recognised certificates on offer, the William Angliss Institute has graduates across the world backed by 80 years of experience.
As a Koorie Student Support Officer, you will work closely with the Learning Information Services team to facilitate and provide learning support to Koorie students. This fulltime position will see you working from the Melbourne campus but may require travel to other sites in metro and regional Victoria.
**Duties Include**:
- Provide learning support to students in need of additional assistance
- Participate in Vocational Education Training (VET) programs
- Develop learning plans for students
- Monitor student progress, implementing learning strategies where required
- Liaise with the Koorie Liaison Officer to handle complex issues
- Offer a supportive and nurturing approach to learning
**Skills & Qualities**:
- Empathetic and collaborative nature
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
- Flexible approach to meet the needs of different learning and educational needs
- Remains calm when working under pressure
- Can juggle various deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong connection to the community and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture
**Role Requirements**:
- National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
- Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
- Tertiary qualification relevant to role; Certificate IV in Education Support or Certificate IV in Community Services (desirable)
- Victorian Driver's Licence
- Previous experience in a similar position or industry (desirable)
