Emergency responders play a vital role in safeguarding communities and mitigating the impact of disasters.
As an Auxiliary Firefighter, you will be part of a collaborative approach to delivering improved safety outcomes for the community.
Purpose of the RoleThe Queensland Fire and Emergency Services offer a unique opportunity to join our team as an Auxiliary Firefighter.
Key Requirements- Mandatory Requirements
- Australian Permanent Resident Status
- Manual C Class driver's licence
- The QFES expects all auxiliary firefighters to commit to:
- Responding to emergency incidents - 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker with non-routine hours
- Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions
- Obtaining an MRV licence within 12 months of employment at their own expense
- Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care
- Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team
- Contribute to community education activities that promote emergency preparedness and safety
- Develop and maintain competencies by participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses provided by the QFES
- Meet attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
Leadership and management behavioural competencies include performance through vision, results, and accountability.
