Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Support Professional to join our team on the West Coast of Tasmania. As a School Counsellor, you will be working in an outreach position, providing therapeutic counselling services to students in Primary and Secondary Catholic Schools.

You will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to identify and address the needs of students, providing evidence-based interventions and support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of child-focused, therapeutic counselling services to students using developmentally appropriate models of intervention.
  • Liaising with parents, teachers, and school administrators to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Conducting thorough intake processes to gather information and develop treatment plans.
  • Providing opportunities for students to participate in goal-setting and intervention planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in therapeutic counselling, particularly with children and young people.
  • A strong understanding of family violence and its impact on women, children, and men.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
