About The Role
The position reports to the Director and is responsible for supervising a team, coordinating governance and program management activities, managing Ministerial and executive reporting requests under tight timeframes, as well as leading the implementation of a range of high-profile early childhood programs and activities in Queensland state schools.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting the Director to lead the effective governance, program management and development of strategic and operational policy for state-wide early childhood programs and initiatives.
- Leading the provision of strategic and expert advice on policy, financial and legislative issues to implement programs aligned to government and departmental strategic objectives.
- Preparing executive briefings and providing informed recommendations to senior management regarding complex strategic issues to support quality executive decision making.
- Supporting the department's functions as an Approved Provider through knowledge of the National Quality Framework, review and implementation of operational policy to comply with child safety-related legislative changes, capability building initiatives and effective program governance.
- Team leadership and planning including management of direct reports and executive reporting.
About You
As the Early Childhood Strategy Manager, you will be a strategic thinker and highly organised, model flexibility and agility to lead planned and adhoc work activities across a range of programs and projects. You will display leadership skills and qualities and a strong commitment to building a positive team culture and the capability of your team.
You will have a strong background in one or more of the following: the legislative frameworks applicable to the regulation of early childhood, state school operations, state schooling and early years curriculum frameworks, program and budget management, policy writing, governance and risk, stakeholder management, corporate governance and reporting.
You will also be an exceptional writer and communicator, with excellent attention to detail and coordination skills, and have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with regional, internal and external stakeholders. You will be confident in stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
