Job Title: Advocate

As an advocate, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that clients receive the support and care they need.

In this position, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting claims on behalf of veterans and their families. You will also represent them at the Veterans' Review Board, providing professional service and meeting client needs.

This is a key role within our Claims and Advocacy team, where your skills and compassion will make a meaningful difference to people's lives.

  • Actively strive to exceed expectations through excellent service, consultation, and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate empathetic and flexible approach in all actions
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, related services, and agencies associated with DVA
  • Participate in projects aligned with strategic/operational plans and embrace change process
  • Take responsibility for delivery of work outcomes associated with claim preparation, submission, and follow-up for compensation and entitlements from DVA & VRB.

You should have:

  • Compensation Advocate Level 3 (or working towards)
  • Working knowledge of defence entitlements under relevant legislation and Veteran's Review Board policies and practices
  • Completed courses relevant to the role or be willing to do so
  • Understanding of defence-related illnesses and conditions
  • Able to establish and build meaningful relationships internally and externally
  • Highly developed communication skills and ability to prioritise, manage and problem solve
