Forensic Medical Specialist

The Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical practitioner to join the Forensic Medical Unit.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing forensic medical examinations and assessments for victims of sexual assault, as well as injury documentation for victims of domestic and other forms of violence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert opinions on forensic medical matters
  • Attend court as an expert witness
  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality

Requirements:

  • Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in the specialty
  • Postgraduate qualifications in forensic medicine or willingness to obtain such qualifications
  • Experience in emergency medicine, general practice, drug health, or other relevant areas
  • Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a senior medical practitioner
  • Ability to work effectively with medical and other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
