Overview

We are seeking a forensic accountant to join our growing team. We welcome candidates with a range of experience, from newly qualified accountants to those with several years of experience. We are keen to speak with candidates looking for flexible working or contracting arrangements to fit with family or other commitments.

The successful candidate will play an important role in our engagement teams conducting forensic investigations, business valuations, the preparation of expert witness reports and providing advisory services in a dispute context.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of expert witness reports and other deliverables in the context of legal proceedings.
  • Prepare / assist with business / asset valuations using a range of valuation techniques and approaches.
  • Conduct / assist with forensic accounting investigations including transaction tracing, fraud and misappropriation, false accounting, financial discrepancies and other irregularities.
  • Conduct industry, market and company research using a range of tools and data sources.
  • Lead and mentor junior forensic accountants and support staff.
  • Build a network of contacts at your level in the claims and disputes field, participate in business development, assist with creating training and education content and contribute to marketing initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, most likely in a relevant field such as accountancy, commerce, economics or finance.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), other relevant technical designation (or working towards).
  • 3 years' experience in forensic accounting, financial investigations or related fields such as corporate finance, business valuation, business analysis, data analytics, insolvency or audit.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A team player.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong skills on core software tools particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your role on multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight timeframes.
  • Possession of a visa that permits you to work in Australia for at least 2 years.
Desirable but Non-essential Attributes
  • Experience preparing expert witness reports.
  • Familiarity with Australian Courts and the legal process
  • Other relevant skills / experience: foreign languages, data analytics, programming, economics / statistics.

Remuneration: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year, depending on experience

Expected hours: 40 per week, plus reasonable overtime

Supplementary Pay: Discretionary performance bonus

Licence/Certification: CA qualification or other relevant designation (Preferred)

Work Authorisation: Australia (Required)

Work Location: In person, in Sydney CBD
