About the Role

The Laboratory Assistant will provide support to the Clinical Trials Unit at Monash Health, a leading healthcare provider in Victoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing, storage, and dispatch of laboratory samples associated with clinical trials, as well as administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Central kit labelling and preparation
  • Processing and shipping of blood samples for central laboratory testing
  • Booking couriers for international shipments
  • Maintaining supply of central kits – ordering, destruction, labelling
  • Assist in the collection and shipping of tissue biopsy specimens, archival and fresh
  • Liaise with internal and external departments to Monash Health
  • Requisitioning of supplies, equipment and services from other departments
  • Photocopying of trial related documents as requested
  • Maintain study related material – ensure pathology reference ranges updated every 6 months
  • Maintain patient confidentiality pertaining to patient, treatment, illness and study involvement at all times
  • Assist with quality assurance requirements
  • Demonstrate a team attitude through offering assistance to others
  • Adhere to quality and safety requirements
  • Other general administrative duties as required

Requirements:

  • Science qualification (relevant degree, diploma, TAFE certification or equivalent)
  • Laboratory skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience within Clinical trials
  • Ability to work as part of a team yet able to work independently
  • Demonstrates the ability to keep complete and organized records
  • Ability to prioritize & excellent time management skills
  • Commitment to flexibility and innovation
