Job Title: Research Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Research Officer to join our Exercise Physiology and Environment Health Research Laboratory at Monash University. The successful candidate will contribute to a ground-breaking project aimed at improving cycling infrastructure, working to develop novel tools that measure people's experiences while riding and help design infrastructure that promotes cycling for diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and conduct physiological experiments using a virtual reality (VR) bike simulator
  • Coordinate ethics submissions, participant recruitment, and trial management
  • Perform data collection, input, and analysis, preparing results in line with research objectives
  • Ensure compliance with research methodology, protocols, and safety regulations
  • Assist in preparing reports, literature reviews, and other documentation
  • Support the achievement of research outcomes through scheduling, administering experiments, and maintaining project timelines
  • Continuously improve research procedures and quality assurance standards
  • Maintain communication with colleagues, collaborators, and stakeholders to support research objectives
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, or substantial relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, including data analysis and effective use of technical methods
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated project administration experience in supporting research projects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under general supervision
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and understanding of confidentiality principles
  • Well-developed communication skills, with experience drafting documentation and reports
  • High level of computer literacy, including experience with new software packages
  • Experience in physiological monitoring and conducting human experiments
