Tackling Indigenous Smoking Team Support Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Team as a Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to closing the gap in Indigenous health outcomes by reducing tobacco smoking as the most significant risk factor for chronic disease among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples within our Barkly Region.
As a key member of our Public Health Services Section, you will assist in developing and promoting supportive resources and activities aimed at reducing smoking rates in Aboriginal communities. You will work closely with our team to deliver smoking prevention and cessation campaigns, information sessions, and community events that are in accordance with relevant guidelines and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of smoking prevention and cessation programs
- Help build respectful relationships with Barkly Region communities
- Support the delivery of culturally responsive programs and services
- Contribute to a culturally safe working environment
- Represent the TIS Program when collaborating with key stakeholders
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
- Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services
- Ability to support the delivery of culturally responsive programs and services
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
