As a specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional clinical support to children and families accessing our services. This permanent post is part of our dynamic team, supporting the delivery of high-quality person-centred care and support services that promote independence and achieve valued outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, offering guidance and training where needed.
  • Contribute to the development of the Speech and Language Therapy pathway within our Autism Diagnostic service, ensuring seamless integration with other therapeutic approaches.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of communication, utilising standardised tools and methodologies to inform effective interventions.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations with the multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and driving best practice.
  • Deliver targeted interventions, providing advice, resources, strategies, and programmes tailored to individual needs and goals.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and ongoing adherence to professional standards.
  • Postgraduate training or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Autism and associated conditions.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Speech and Language Therapist, preferably working with children with complex needs and autism.
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience working with children who use Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems.
  • Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice and its application in clinical settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, promoting open communication and respect for diverse perspectives.
