Student Support Specialist

The Student Support Specialist role provides support to students in an online environment, promoting student engagement with their learning program to enhance student outcomes through retention and completion strategies.

This involves improving student retention and completion by increasing student motivation, confidence and capability to study in an online environment. Early identification of students at risk of non-progression and supporting them to engage with online study is also a key aspect of the role.

Key Objectives:

  • Improve student retention and completion by increasing student motivation, confidence and capability to study in an online environment
  • Early identification of students at risk of non-progression and supporting them to engage with online study
  • Work closely with the Line Manager to develop and review meaningful performance management and development plans

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in relevant discipline or equivalent skills and knowledge
  • Digital literacy skills and ability to quickly locate, explore and understand content of online learning materials and processes used in multiple disciplines and on multiple learning platforms
  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a team combined with experience working in a high volume call centre environment with the ability to work under pressure and meet team deadlines
  • Good planning, organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to address and meet focus capabilities as stated in the Position Description
  • Motivation to work in a contract role
  • WWCC & Police Check
