About the Role

Csiro is seeking an experienced and passionate Indigenous Engagement Officer to join our Education and Outreach team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering our STEM engagement program, focusing on teacher engagement in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledges
    • Develop and deliver workshops that showcase local traditional knowledges and practices
    • Provide training and support to teachers on incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their teaching practices
  • Establishing and Maintaining Relationships
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with teachers, schools, and community members in the Pilbara region
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement education programs that meet the needs of local communities
  • Program Coordination
    • Coordinate the delivery of our STEM engagement program, including managing logistics and resources
    • Work with teachers to develop and implement student-centred, inquiry-based STEM projects
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with teachers, schools, and community members
    • Represent Csiro at community events and meetings, promoting our education programs and services
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as STEM Education or Communication
    • Extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with a focus on education and outreach
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
    • Proven ability to coordinate and deliver education programs, with a focus on community engagement and participation
