Project Manager Role Overview

The role of a Project Manager is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. A seasoned professional in this position oversees all aspects of project administration, including contractual obligations, trade partner agreements, purchase orders, and risk management.

This includes developing detailed cost-to-complete forecasts, identifying potential financial exposures, and maintaining accurate tracking of field directives and back charges. Effective communication with owners, architects, consultants, government authorities, and trade partners is essential for maintaining alignment with project schedules.

  • Develop and maintain baseline schedules, track schedule impacts, and lead efforts to prevent non-excusable delays.
  • Collaborate with superintendents to ensure timely project execution, address performance issues promptly to mitigate project delays, and provide monthly schedule updates and narratives to owners.

A successful candidate will have deep experience in commercial construction, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to managing complex project dynamics. They will foster professional relationships with subcontractors, address performance issues promptly, and promote a collaborative, high-performance team culture.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering
  • 10+ years of commercial construction project management experience
  • Strong command of contract terms, legal provisions, and construction documentation
  • High initiative and problem-solving ability in complex project environments
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
