About the Project

The Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing, will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange and cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton.

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway
About the Role

This Excavation Site Engineer position is key to the successful delivery of complex underground works for the Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2 Project.

  • Coordinate excavation activities to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery
  • Assist in planning materials, equipment, and systems for efficient excavation operations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold quality, safety, and environmental standards
  • Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders during planning and execution
  • Monitor budgets and schedules, including cost control and lookahead planning
  • Interpret excavation-specific design plans and geotechnical drawings
  • Support early-career engineers through mentorship and knowledge-sharing

Required Skills and Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Proven experience in excavation or underground construction projects

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Attention to detail and proactive approach to safety and compliance
