We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator with expertise in RF infrastructure and tunnel/construction projects to join our growing team based at our Seven Hills, NSW office.
About the Role
The Estimator – Tunnels / Construction will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for the design, installation, and commissioning of Radio Rebroadcast (RRB), Mobile Phone Systems (MPS), and GNSS systems within motor and rail tunnels. This includes leaky feeder cable, antennas, coaxial cables, and other related RF equipment.
This role will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and senior management to ensure accurate costing for major RF rail and road infrastructure projects, with a focus on compliance with industry standards and delivering value to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan Interpretation
– Analyse and interpret tunnel plans, RF design specifications, and relevant documentation to identify all necessary components and associated costs. - Design & Installation Costing
– Estimate costs for labour, materials, equipment, and installation expenses for both deployment and commissioning stages. - Material Requirements
– Accurately determine quantities and specifications for required materials. - Labour Costing
– Calculate labour hours required for installation, testing, and commissioning, factoring in conditions, complexity, and potential delays. - Subcontractor Management
– Obtain, review, and negotiate quotes with subcontractors for specialised works. - Risk Assessment
– Identify and evaluate potential cost risks, including material delays, access limitations, labour rate increases, and technical challenges. - Cost Control
– Monitor actual project costs against initial estimates, highlight variances, and recommend cost-saving measures. - Tender Documentation
– Prepare and submit accurate tender documentation for review by management and the business development team. - Stakeholder Communication
– Maintain effective communication with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams. - Industry Knowledge
– Stay up to date with RF technologies, construction estimating best practices, and relevant industry standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in construction estimating, ideally within RF, tunnel, or linear infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of RF principles, antenna systems, cabling types, and related technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience preparing estimates for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software and relevant tools.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction, or a related field.
