About the Role

The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Management Specialist to join our Grants Management Unit (GMU). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of grant agreements, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, regulatory frameworks, and NIAA policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage grant agreements with varying levels of complexity and sensitivity, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders regarding the management of grant agreements, including service delivery and provider capability risks, performance reports, and grant payment instalments.
  • Identify emerging opportunities or issues and respond quickly to competing priorities.
  • Develop and implement effective internal and external relationships, negotiating with stakeholders in complex matters and resolving escalated issues.
  • Supervise staff, develop staff, build team capacity through coaching, performance feedback, and encouraging career development.
Requirements
  • Candidates should possess a good understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, cultures, and history, with direct experience working with Indigenous stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Willingness and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency.
  • Sound judgement and professionalism, with the capacity to work flexibly and responsively to achieve results.
