Sr. Structures Analyst Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Structures Analyst to join our team. This role will involve developing guidance and structural analysis tools used across the company, ensuring key stakeholders are onboard with these methods and training other engineers as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Structural Analysis Tool Development: Develop structural analysis tools for primary and secondary structures, including finite element modeling and hand calculations.
  • Loading Path Development: Conduct load path development and preliminary sizing of structures using metallic and composite materials.
  • Rapid Conceptual Design: Collaborate with the team to perform rapid conceptual design, analysis, and testing cycles on development hardware (including CAD modeling, FEA modeling, and testing oversight).
  • Preliminary Review: Perform peer review of models, analysis, and tests.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or physics discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in structural analysis with commercial FEA or multi-physics simulation package.
Preferred Skills:
  • Master's degree or PhD in engineering, math, or physics discipline.
  • Experience performing structural analysis on primary structures.
  • Proficiency with FEA solvers ABAQUS, ANSYS, or Nastran.
  • Advanced proficiency with pre/post-processors, including scripting (ABAQUS/CAE, ANSA/META, ANSYS, or FEMAP).
  • Familiarity with material, geometric, and contact nonlinear analyses.
  • Experience with stress analysis of welded structures (including heat distortion and residual stresses).
  • Excellent understanding of fatigue and fracture mechanics principles and familiarity with fatigue and crack growth analysis codes.
  • Scripting experience with Python, VBA, or Matlab.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
