Job Summary:
  • We are seeking a Structures Design Engineer to design and develop structures for spacecraft from concept to deployment.
Main Responsibilities:
  1. This role involves developing design concepts and sizing vehicle structures based on flight loads.
  2. The ideal candidate will collaborate with peers to balance mass, cost, and capability.
  3. Detailed designs, CAD models in NX, and finite element models will be created by the selected candidate.
  4. Designs must be analyzed to prove they meet vehicle needs.
  5. Hand calculations and empirical formulas will be used to assess and iterate on designs rapidly.
  6. Validations of designs through testing and structural testing will be performed by the engineer.
  7. Collaboration with engineers and technicians is required to improve designs.
  8. Supporting hardware assembly and witnessing designs taking flight is essential.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
  • 1+ years of experience designing, analyzing, or building structures is expected (internship and school projects qualify).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • A passion for creating, tinkering, and building is highly desirable.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Experience driving significant outcomes and transitioning products from design to manufacturing is preferred.
  • A demonstrated passion for learning and completing impactful projects is valuable.
Additional Requirements:
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed is a requirement.
