Leadership Role in Emerging Power System Phenomena

This position plays a critical role in driving the development of power system study capabilities, tools, and models. It requires a strong leader who can attract, develop, and retain high-performing engineers.

  • The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for conducting technical investigations, including developing future state cases and collaborating with external consultants as needed.
  • They will be responsible for managing the specification of technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies, such as grid forming inverters.
  • This role also involves leading planning studies in collaboration with AEMO's System Security Planning team and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs) to prepare for future system transition points.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a deep understanding of power system phenomena, and experience working with cross-functional teams. They should also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Future System Studies Team: Attract, develop, and retain high-performing engineers who demonstrate our values and foster an inclusive culture.

Manage External Consultants: Collaborate with external consultants when required to deliver technical investigations and contribute to enterprise leadership.

Develop Power System Study Capability: Develop and maintain power system study capability, tools, models, and future state cases for technical investigations.

Specify Technical Requirements: Lead the specification of technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies, including grid forming inverters.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with AEMO's System Security Planning team and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs) to prepare for future system transition points.
