Seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our engineering excellence centre, overseeing a team of top-tier power system engineers. As the Manager - Future System Studies, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our energy systems.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled professional with expertise in large-scale power system operations and planning. Your deep understanding of the challenges facing the National Electricity Market (NEM) power system will enable you to develop and implement innovative solutions.

About The Role
  • Lead the Future System Studies team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and innovation that aligns with our values.
  • Develop and maintain advanced power system study capabilities, tools, and models to drive technical investigations.
  • Collaborate with AEMO's System Security Planning team and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs) to deliver comprehensive planning studies.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as a proven track record of managing high-performing teams in complex technical environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the future power system study elements of the Engineering Roadmap and Transition Plan for System Security.
  • Specifying technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies, including grid forming inverters.
  • Delivering a program of planning studies in collaboration with AEMO's System Security Planning team and TNSPs.

To succeed in this role, you will require appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, combined with a deep understanding of power system engineering and management.

  • A strong background in power system operations and planning, with experience in leading teams in complex technical environments.
