Job Title: Maternal Healthcare Specialist

Birthing services in the Northern Territory are provided across four geographical locations, catering to the diverse needs of expectant mothers and their families.

The NT Health models of care encompass various approaches to ensure comprehensive support throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal care.

Key Models of Care:

  • Midwifery Group Practice (caseload/continuity of carer)
  • Team midwifery
  • Remote Area Maternity care
  • General Practitioner Obstetrician care
  • Shared care
  • Public hospital maternity care
  • Public hospital high risk maternity care

Candidates must possess a minimum of 12 months experience in a relevant area of clinical practice, ensuring they can provide exceptional care to patients.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing/midwifery care for an allocated group of clients.
  2. Operate within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and adhere to relevant legislation, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  3. Collaborate effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to seamless patient care.
  4. Ensure a safe environment for healthcare consumers and staff, modifying work practices as needed.
  5. Embody the NT Health values – safe, responsive, and kind – in all decision making and interactions.
  6. Role model a positive workplace culture through behaviour.
  7. Adhere to defined service quality standards, WHS policies, and procedures.
  8. Ability to work shift work and be redeployed to meet clinical needs.
