
Family Support Specialist

About the Role:
This is an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable families. As a Family Support Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering client-focused and outcome-based services that promote family well-being and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with clients who experience complex issues to develop and implement case plans that address their unique needs.
- Advocate for the rights and interests of Aboriginal people, contributing to cultural case plans that reflect their perspectives and values.
- Provide trauma-informed care under the Sanctuary model, ensuring that your practice is grounded in empathy and understanding.
- Foster respectful relationships with stakeholders, government departments, and the community to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Conduct in-home visits to support the achievement of agreed goals, working collaboratively with families and other service providers.
- Ensure that the voices of clients and families are heard in case planning and goal setting, prioritizing their participation and empowerment.
- Support and engage parents and children attending playgroup, promoting healthy relationships and social connections.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in the Human Services field (Diploma of Community Services or equivalent; Degree qualifications preferred).
- Practical experience in working with vulnerable families and an ability to identify children and young people at risk.
- Demonstrated expertise in client-centred case management, including assessment, planning, and intervention.
- Knowledge of the Community Services sector, trauma and its impacts, crisis impacts on families, child protection issues, and legislation.
