Job Title: Family Support Specialist

Home-Start is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to deliver our Staying Home Leaving Violence program in Goulburn/Mulwaree, Yass Valley and Upper Lachlan Local Government Areas.

The successful applicant will provide intensive case work, which is long-term, needs-based and integrated with key agencies, to promote housing stability and prevent homelessness for women and children affected by domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of risk for women and children affected by domestic and family violence.
  • Develop and implement safety planning and case management strategies to support victim/survivors to remain separated from violent partners, achieve stable accommodation, maintain support networks, secure employment/training for women and education/childcare for their children.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in a social science or related field and/or specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level.
  • Current Driver's Licence and medically fit to drive.
  • Satisfactory Criminal record check and current Working with Children Check (NSW).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts of domestic violence on women and children.
  • Experience actively engaging with culturally diverse peoples and complex clients in a collaborative case work context.

  • A 12-month employment contract with an option to extend.
  • Employment wages and conditions in accordance with the Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award, Level 4.1 to 4.4, dependent on relevant skills, qualifications and experience.
