About the Role

As a highly skilled Excavator Operator, you will be an integral part of our Production Mining Team at Thiess. You will thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, and you will be challenged to operate heavy machinery efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy machinery, such as excavators, to extract minerals and materials from the earth.
  • Comply with all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Respond to instructions from the Mining Supervisor and contribute to the team's success.
  • Excavate to design boundaries of ore bodies, berms, and pit walls, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Maintain floor levels and minimize dilution to achieve design parameters within acceptable tolerances.
  • Set and maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform pre-start checks to ensure the safe operation of equipment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a mining production excavator operator.
  • Equivalent to or specific experience operating Hitachi EX3600 is essential.
  • Experience in loading dump trucks in a mining production environment is essential.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of ore mark-ups and pit configuration.
  • Skills to mine out benches and cutting batters, leaving minimal material for final trim to design of batter angle.
  • HR driver's license (desirable).
  • Proven compliance and commitment to health and safety at all times.
