Job Description

The Regional Cost Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the cost planning function, driving implementation and guiding the delivery of cost planning processes to ensure compliance and alignment with organisational objectives.

The role ensures the delivery of accurate, timely, and strategic cost advice throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility through to final account. The ideal candidate will have built relationships with clients, partners, external consultants, subcontractors and demonstrate natural leadership ability.

  • Manage a team of cost planners and coordinate cost planning activities, including evaluating work and providing training and feedback to develop internal capabilities.
  • Implement, monitor and execute cost planning programs and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of cost planning outcomes.
  • Coordinate cost planning reviews to record and inform decision making and ensure ongoing compliance with reporting requirements; reviewing RBU Cost Plans and estimates prior to submission.
  • Maintain current knowledge of cost planning developments and requirements, providing subject matter expertise and supervising application of cost planning methods and techniques.
  • Understand local market conditions and maintain genuine relationships with key subcontractors to source reliable market pricing.
  • Fully accountable for all cost planning and estimating within the RBU from conversion through to delivery.
  • Actively engage with Strategic Business Units as required.
  • Promote Digital technologies through cost planning.
  • Encourage performance reviews and development discussions with team members to plan key resource sessions for future leadership.

  • Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of building construction and design metrics.
  • Solid understanding of quantity surveying, estimating and cost planning principles and techniques.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen in decision making.
  • Solid understanding of 'Cost X' estimating software.
  • Proficiency in escalation modelling.
  • Ability to understand/review PBF cost reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to persuade, facilitate decision making, manage expectations, influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
