ATSICHS Brisbane is a member of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH).

As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, The Social Health Psychologist will provide a range of effective therapeutic interventions using established evidence-based techniques and methodologies of proven effectiveness that are adapted to the individual needs and treatment plan for each client.

Duties

- Provide psychological interventions using established techniques and methodologies of proven effectiveness from a sound evidence base.
- Conduct initial, review and closure wellbeing assessment measures (K5+) with Clients.
- Maintain a high rate of Client attendance with Clients’ care transitioned when appropriate.
- Provide brief mental health interventions and de-escalation of crisis episodes within medical clinics, working closely with internal Social Health and Primary health teams.
- Assessments (screening, risk, intake, ATOMIC, and IUIH Social Health Care Pathway) are completed with Clients using the designated Social Health tools and practice approach.
- Continually engage with allocated clinic(s) to support medical staff in managing social-emotional wellbeing issues.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including Psychologists, Counsellors, GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers and Allied Health staff.

- Base salary of $107,706per annum Pro Rata (based on qualifications and experience).

Desired Skills and Experience

Required

- Qualifications in Psychology with general registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

- National Police Certificate.

Working with Children's Yellow Card or willing to apply.

Driver’s License.

AHPRA Registration.

Evidence of Work Rights.

- Demonstrated ability to apply a high level of clinical judgement and to prepare and present accurate reports relating to the outcome assessment and intervention of a client.
- Ability to work with a culturally and socially diverse group of clients, and to apply a culturally responsive framework to guide interventions, with the support of staff and management.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the application of a variety of efficacious, evidence-based psychology treatment approaches for clients whose presenting problems include: mental health problems (including personality disorders and mental illness), suicidal ideation/behaviour and self-harm, drug and/or alcohol abuse, long-term responses to trauma, and behavioural problems.
- Demonstrated ability to administer assessments and undertake specialised, comprehensive clinical assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to apply psychological assessment to both clinical formulation and the delivery of intensive therapeutic intervention to clients.
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing and coordinating case management processes and procedures.
- A willingness to travel across the ATSICHS Brisbane region of services and work across different sites.
- A willingness to provide therapeutic supports and engagement to patients outside of a clinic environment.

Preferred

- Previous experience in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Previous experience working in an Aboriginal Medical Service.
