Vincentia Public School (enrolment 250 students, 20 Aboriginal students) is a primary school on the South Coast of NSW. The school’s strategic directions are designed to support student growth and attainment, with a high‑expectation culture, continuous improvement, coaching and mentoring, and a focus on literacy and numeracy. The school offers a range of extra‑curricular activities, including inter‑school sporting competitions, the Premier’s Sporting and Reading Challenges, a weekly Code Club, choir performances, public speaking competitions, and an active Student Representative Council. Partnerships with the local Aboriginal community, the Bay and Basin Learning Community, and nearby Vincentia High School support student success and cultural integration.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Highly visible, strategic and reflective leadership with an authentic commitment to realising school improvement through explicit teaching practices that lead to sustained student growth.

- Proven ability to maintain and foster a high‑expectations environment driven by high‑performing staff and aspirational students.

- Demonstrated success in developing genuine collaborative relationships with all stakeholders to strengthen educational partnerships that enhance the school’s standing within the Bay and Basin learning community and provide greater opportunity for students.

- Capacity to build a diverse and inclusive school through the delivery of equitable evidence‑based initiatives that support student and staff wellbeing.

General Selection Criteria

- High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.

- Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole‑school teaching and learning programs.

- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.

- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.

- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.

- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Conditions

Unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. Applicants who do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education must commence the application process concurrently with this opportunity.
