About the Role:

The role requires a demonstrated ability to plan, scope, and draft Government decision and information briefs for the AIR Alliance that are clear, concise, and logically structured. The Alliance Document Briefing and Communications Advisor will tailor content to suit diverse audiences, ensuring high-quality outputs that align with approved templates and style guides. Working independently under high-level direction, they will research and develop compelling draft documents that support informed decision-making and reflect attention to detail, clarity, and professionalism. The role also includes assisting in the management of strategic and operational plans, contributing to the development and oversight of management plans that guide Alliance operations, and supporting the organisation and liaison with the Alliance participants on community events and initiatives.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Accountabilities

- Ensure the development of Government decision and information briefs that are clear, concise, and aligned with approved templates and style guides.

- Deliver high-quality written content that supports effective decision-making and meets the needs of diverse audiences.

- Maintain consistency and professionalism in all written communications, adhering to established standards and style requirements.

- Manage tasks independently under broad direction, ensuring timely delivery of briefing materials.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of briefing processes, templates, and documentation standards.

- Support the effective implementation and oversight of strategic and operational management plans within the AIR Alliance.

- Ensure alignment of community activities with Alliance objectives and stakeholder expectations.

- Facilitate collaboration with the Alliance participants to promote community engagement through events and initiatives.

- Maintain accurate and accessible documentation through effective document control practices.

Responsibilities

- Plan, scope, and draft structured and logically organised briefs for Government stakeholders.

- Tailor content to suit the intended audience, distilling complex information into clear and actionable messages.

- Conduct research and gather relevant data from internal and external sources to inform briefing content.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and incorporate feedback into draft documents.

- Apply style guides and formatting standards to ensure consistency and quality across all outputs.

- Prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines to deliver briefs within required timeframes.

- Identify opportunities to enhance the clarity, impact, and efficiency of briefing practices.

- Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of management plans that guide Alliance operations and decision-making.

- Assist with community events and initiatives that foster engagement and awareness.

- Contribute to the planning and execution of outreach activities, ensuring they reflect the Alliance’s values of inclusion, collaboration, and professionalism.

- Provide support with document control, including version tracking, formatting, and ensuring compliance with approved templates and style guides.

- Maintain documentation and communication records related to community engagement, management planning, and document control activities.

Knowledge and Experience:

- Demonstrated experience in drafting Government decision and information briefs, including planning, scoping, and structuring content to meet organisational standards.

- Proven ability to work independently under high-level guidance to research, analyse, and synthesise complex information into clear and actionable documents.

- Familiarity with Government communication protocols, briefing templates, and style guides.

- Experience engaging with stakeholders to gather input and refine written materials.

- Understanding of public sector decision-making processes and the role of briefing materials in supporting executive and ministerial outcomes.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Tertiary qualification in public policy, communications, journalism, government, or a related discipline.

- Demonstrated experience in preparing Government decision and information briefs, reports, or similar documentation.

- Proven ability to write clearly and concisely for executive and ministerial audiences.

- Strong understanding of Government processes, protocols, and communication standards.

- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.

Preferable qualifications:

- Experience working within a Government or public sector environment.

- Familiarity with state government style guides and briefing templates.

- Training or certification in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, or policy development.

- Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in documentation or communications.

- Knowledge of sustainability, WHS, or environmental reporting frameworks relevant to infrastructure or public programs
