Responsibilities
These roles offer successful applicants the unique opportunity to work as part of an already large Renal Department in the SWSLHD to establish a new Kidney Transplant Unit. You will be responsible for providing care to transplant patients in collaboration with Renal Transplant Physicians. You will be involved in streamlining the pre-transplant process, donor and recipient assessment, coordinating relevant services to facilitate renal transplantation as well as establishing post-transplant care. The post-transplant care will involve both the immediate post-discharge care as well as long-term care. These roles report to the Director of Renal Services SWSLHD and will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to apply best current evidence-based medicine in optimizing outcomes for patients undergoing renal transplantation. Each role will provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care, with clinical privileges granted by the CE on advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors. It provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation. The Hospital offers 23 operating theatres, up to 877 beds, diagnostic/imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical/surgical services from birth to aged care. Liverpool Hospital is undergoing a major redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct project to enhance facilities and capacity.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and Western Sydney University, and welcomes students from many universities and colleges. Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

- Current medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice to contemporary evidence-based best practice in all aspects of renal transplantation (surgical). Demonstrated recent clinical experience in both deceased and living donor adult kidney transplantation.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/continuing professional development. Demonstrated research in renal transplantation and capacity to undertake ongoing research at SWSLHD.
- Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including provision of services to the local community, efficient use of resources, and readiness to participate in health services at an LHD level.
- Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call roster.
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners within a multidisciplinary health care team.
