**About the opportunity**
Want to work in a world class Microbiology Laboratory? An opportunity exists for a Medical Laboratory Technician with a passion for Microbiology to join the NSW Health Pathology Serology Department laboratory team nestled in the Liverpool Hospital Precinct as a permanent full-time shift worker Medical Laboratory Technician.
- We are seeking a level-headed person with good laboratory skills, an eye for detail, good organizational skills, and excellent communication skills. You will be working with a dedicated team of Scientists, providing quality services to South Western Sydney Local Health District network patients.

Continued professional development is essential in this role and opportunities will be provided to support these activities. Participation in an on-call roster is mandatory.

You will be working in the Serology Section of the Microbiology Department located at the Liverpool Hospital Campus.

There is future scope for this position to rotate through the Molecular Department.

**What you'll be doing**

The successful applicant will be expected to be a hands-on and proactive team player and to be involved in all activities of the Serology laboratory. The successful applicant will also be expected to work independently and collaboratively within the team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a Serology department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
