About us
We keep the lights on for customers through our energy generation facilities powered by coal and gas, combined with large-scale energy storage.
And we’re leading the delivery of the clean energy system of the future, with projects that will provide flexible generation and enable the growth of renewable assts to come online.
About the Role
Join us at Mt Piper Power Station as a Maintenance Engineer – Electrical, where you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of our electrical assets.
You’ll support routine maintenance, reactive repairs, and capital projects while driving continuous improvement and contributing to strategic asset management initiatives.
Your work will help keep our plant operating within the “band of normal” and at the forefront of the generation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise preventive and corrective maintenance plans for electrical systems and equipment.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and reactive maintenance activities.
- Lead and support maintenance and capital projects, including scoping, planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Mentor and train staff in electrical condition-based maintenance strategies and benefits.
- Monitor asset health using diagnostics, condition monitoring, and reliability data to inform priorities.
- Review and prioritise electrical routines against Life Maintenance Plans (LMPs) and maintenance manuals.
- Support high-level root cause analysis (RCA) activities and maintain electrical diagrams.
- Manage maintenance budgets and contribute to cost-effective decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with Australian standards, regulatory requirements, and EnergyAustralia policies.
- Champion a strong safety culture and participate in risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Prepare technical reports and collaborate across teams to inform decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Support planned and unplanned outage activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience in a heavy industrial setting).
- Demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance within power generation or similar heavy industry.
- Experience with DCS programming, troubleshooting, instrumentation, and control strategies.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Understanding of equipment isolation and lock-out procedures.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Please note: This is not a DIDO/FIFO role. You must live locally to Mt Piper Power Station or be willing to relocate to the area.
