The Medical Workforce Unit is responsible for the recruitment, appointment, payroll and management of the junior medical staff (senior registrars to interns) within ISLHD. The MWU is committed to delivering high quality, client focused and professional services that support the organisation in the delivery of its core function, which is the provision of high quality, safe and efficient health services that are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and the community.
Provide support of ensuring the establishment and maintenance of an adequate, skilled, competent, safe and effective Junior Medical Workforce, vital in effecting health outcomes, and vital in effecting the safety and functioning of the community.
Responsible to the Manager of Medical Workforce Unit for managing and providing administrative support for the nonspecialist workforce at ISLHD and its associated networks. Responsible for all aspects of payroll, rostering governance and Award compliance for junior medical staff. Ensure the delivery of efficient and friendly customer service to all stakeholders.
The position holder will need to maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of junior medical staff conditions of employment, Awards and other rostering guidelines and have the ability to apply these to day to day processes and practices.
Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west.
