Overview

Based in the Head Office in Melbourne's CBD, our client is a well-established hotel chain of boutique hotels in Victoria.

They are looking for a full-time Accountant to undertake and advise on aspects of financial analysis across the multiple legal entities within the group. This includes accounting systems and processes, regulatory and compliance based financial reporting, auditing, solvency, and record-keeping accounting systems and their requirements.

Responsibilities

- Month end accounting including balance sheet reconciliations and journals

- Preparation of daily cashflow forecasts

- Preparation and finalisation of monthly financial reports tracking financial performance against budget and analysing variances

- Preparation of reports for management and statutory reporting

- Providing commentary on management reports and identifying areas for improvement

- Undertake audits investigating and resolving financial discrepancies with thorough research, financial acumen, and critical thinking

- Maintenance of internal controls

- Preparation of taxation returns for organisations within the group

- Coordinate and communicate accounting matters with other departments and off-site locations within the group

- Assist management with the preparation of annual reports

- Analysing trends and financial performance across business units

- Taking part in systems and process improvement initiatives

Skills required

- Sound knowledge of accounting and financial matters

- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Attention to detail

- Ability to work independently and with teams

Qualifications and experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, Commerce or similar

- Minimum of 1 years of relevant experience

Remuneration

This is subject to your skills, qualifications and experience with a salary package of $77,000-$80,000 per annum + superannuation based on a full-time position.
