The role This role leads a team to shape and deliver major policy reforms and strategic initiatives that drive better outcomes for NSW. It involves analysing complex issues, developing evidence-based solutions, and providing expert advice to senior executives and ministers. With a focus on due diligence, compliance, and probity, the role ensures that policies and programs are grounded in sound analysis and implemented effectively to achieve long-term results. Success in this role requires strong leadership, strategic insight, and the ability to navigate complex political and policy environments. Project management skills and attention to detail is essential. Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, challenging conventional approaches, and maintaining a whole-of-government perspective are key to delivering innovative, practical, and forward-looking policy outcomes. For more information read the full Role Description: Principal Policy Officer PWD Ok Gde 11-12 RD 16072024.docx What you will bring to the role - Proven ability to lead the design and delivery of evidence-based projects, programs, and reform initiatives that address complex and emerging issues. - Strong research and analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights that shape innovative outcomes. Understanding of property and government priorities for strategic outcomes. - Skilled at engaging, consulting, and negotiating with senior executives, ministers, and cross‑sector stakeholders to build consensus and deliver whole-of-government solutions. - Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring high‑performing teams to deliver quality outcomes under tight timeframes and in politically sensitive environments. - Deep understanding of governance, compliance, and probity principles, with a focus on ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuous enhancement.
