Brentwood Secondary College is located in the eastern Melbourne suburb of Glen Waverley. The College has a student population of 1560 with almost equal numbers of boys and girls. - Demonstrated capacity to supervise Tertiary Wellbeing Students on placement at Brentwood
- Highly developed counselling skills and experience in counselling adolescents presenting with a range of issues who may be self‑referred, teacher or parent referred.
- Knowledge of case management and student support strategies, with a demonstrated capacity to deliver a comprehensive wellbeing service to students and families in an educational setting.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and network with the wide range of people within the education and wider community.
- Demonstrated ability to actively promote the safety and wellbeing of all students in line with the Child Safe Standards.
Role
Counselling of Complex Needs Students
- Provide one on one counselling for high risk and/or complex needs students
- Risk assessments on student crisis
- Assess and implement approach to crisis management of students
Case Management
- Refer students and families to external mental health service providers
- Collaborate with external mental health service providers
- Develop, implement and review case management plans for complex needs students
- Communicate case management plans and build partnerships with House leaders, Heads of Houses and other relevant stakeholders
- Attend SSGs and case review meetings
- Attend weekly House meetings
- Manage and allocate referrals from parents, HoS, SMs and teaching staff
Daily Organisation/Supervision of the Wellbeing Placement Program
- Co‑ordination and oversight of placement students
- Conduct daily meetings with placement students
- Conduct interviews with placement students and allocate roles
- Ongoing training and development of placement students
- Daily supervision of placement students as per the requirement of the placement student's tertiary institution
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with university placement co‑ordinators
- Collate relevant data and statistics of Wellbeing activities
- Record and review case notes
- Ongoing communication with parents, teaching staff, House Hub
- Daily reporting to Wellbeing team and Assistant Principal – Director of Wellbeing
Any other duties as directed by the Principal or delegate.

- Undertake ongoing professional learning and development
- Participate in professional development opportunities within areas relevant to your role
- Support continuous improvement, evaluation and evidence‑based innovation in school programs

- Develop positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff and the wider College community
- Participate in the culture and life of the College.
- Support colleagues in their work.
- Participate in specific meetings of school committees as required.
- Make contributions to the Daily Bulletin, College newsletters, annual magazine and other school publications as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Manage the design and production of school publications and documents.
- Provide professional student support services, e.g. therapist and psychological and counselling services.
- Provide strategic advice on specific support services and their impact on students, school curriculum and services.
- Manage the use of and access to school resource and reference material.
