About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Retail Design Manager. The Retail Design Manager will be responsible for delivering industry best practice and innovative retail designs for our Metcash Food & Grocery retailers. This will be achieved through effective management and co‑ordination between Metcash, the Retailer and Developer.

In this Role

- Design and document new and refurbished supermarket fit‑outs

- Manage project approvals, ensuring alignment with Metcash standards and timelines

- Coordinate design and construction documents across internal and external teams

- Review third‑party plans to ensure optimal store outcomes

- Ensure compliance with regulations and tenancy requirements

- Collaborate with stakeholders including developers, consultants, and internal teams

- Conduct site investigations / measure‑ups and prepare Existing Conditions, Feasibility and Concept Plans

- Analyse store layouts to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency

You’re Likely a Match If:

- Tertiary qualifications in Architecture or Interior Design.

- Experience in supermarket or food retail design (preferred).

- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD (Revit family creation a plus).

- Skills in Enscape or similar presentation tools.

- Strong portfolio showcasing relevant 2D/3D design, documentation, and presentation.

- Solid understanding of supermarket and/or food retail design requirements, including equipment, layout, operations, food safety, services (MEP), and compliance (BCA/NCC/DDA/AS).

- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

- A creative, innovative mindset with strong stakeholder and time management skills
