The Firm & The Role

A full-time, permanent role in the firm's Melbourne CBD office for a highly experienced Employment Lawyer with broad-ranging and in-depth experience across the full gamut of Employment Law matters, both front-end and back-end, excluding WHS. The ideal applicant will have strong Employer representative experience.

The ideal candidate will be extremely well-rounded in terms of her/his drafting, advisory, problem-solving, workplace investigations, training delivery, and solicitor-advocacy skills. diligence and efficiency are key hallmarks of the firm's practice and should also be in the successful applicant's practice. The legal team is nearly at a capacity of 30 and the firm is enjoying so much success that they are looking to grow their team at all levels as soon as possible to keep up with the work coming through.

The firm's clients are highly sophisticated, ranging from SME's to large corporates, government departments, public service institutions and educational institutions. The firm delivers a fully-integrated service, drafting contracts, advising on all legislative provisions pertaining to Employment Law matters and Employee Relations, as well as operational matters (ranging from complaints to performance issues, misconduct/serious misconduct and termination matters), workplace investigations, and dispute resolution and litigation.

The team is strong with plenty of experience at all levels, as such, any new lawyer being onboarded will have access to a highly fertile environment for ongoing learning and professional development. The firm appreciates the commerciality of their clients' needs and they accommodate these needs with the same commercial approach, with efficient, accurate and up-to-date advice that is delivered in a succinct and straightforward style.

Essential Requirements

- Minimum 10 years PQE in Employment Law and Workplace Relations within a mid-tier or large private practice

- Completely at ease running diverse Employment Law matters from end-to-end without any supervision, subject to a collaborative environment

- Strong interpersonal skills: excellent plain English communication skills and demonstrable experience liaising directly with sophisticated clients
