Our Victim Connect service works with victims of violent crime across Queensland. In this role, you’ll provide case management and a range of in person and online specialist supports to help them overcome the impact of experiencing violence.
54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.
A place to make a difference:
In this 8 day fortnight (60.8 hrs), fixed term contract position through to the end of June 2027 you’ll provide case management support to victims of violent crime. Based in either Brisbane, Townsville or Mt Isa, you’ll be a member of our QLD Programs team and report to our Team Leader.
You will make a difference by:
- Providing specialist support, psychoeducation, counselling, information, referrals and case management to victims of violent crime including domestic violence and sexualised violence
- Offering specialist services including providing brief counselling interventions, completing financial assistance applications, and providing education on court processes
- Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed case management framework
- Assisting victim/survivors to develop emotional regulation strategies and providing additional holistic support
A place to feel valued:
You’re an experienced case manager with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You have experience in working with people who have experienced trauma and you’re able to respond calmly and effectively in complex situations. Importantly, you possess a thorough understanding of the impact of domestic violence and sexual assault and can apply that within a trauma-informed practice framework.
This role requires:
- A Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Services Qualification and/or significant experience in a similar role
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed practice
- Experience working within a counselling role or similar
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Current drivers’ licence and Blue Card
- Suitable space to work from home in a hybrid model of both office and home based service delivery
A place to belong:
At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.
It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team.
