Location: Aveo Sydney CBD Corporate Office – 4 Days onsite & 1 Day WFH
Reports to: Finance Manager – Communities
The Opportunity
Bring your expertise in finance, accounting and leadership to Aveo as our Senior Management Accountant. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee treasury transactions, corporate reporting, annual auditing, budgeting and financial analysis while guiding your team to partner with stakeholders across our thriving retirement communities. Your Impact:
- Manage inter-entity cash movements between community (village) accounts and corporate accounts.
- Oversee deficit funding in Aveo villages, subsidies, and unbundling reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Lead the collation and analysis of budgets, including preparation of monthly variance reports.
- Coordinate annual audits, financial statements, and maintain relationships with external auditors.
- Maintain strong banking relationships and ensure all GST transactions are accurately recorded.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to your team of two Assistant Accountants and broader finance team members.
- Partner with Community Managers and Operations teams to deliver clear financial advice and support.
- Drive finance process improvements, standardisation, and change initiatives across communities.

What you’ll bring:
- Degree qualification in Accounting or Finance, with CA or CPA accreditation (essential).
- 4+ years’ finance experience (e.g. Financial Analyst, Management Accountant, Auditor or similar); exposure to retirement living or a similar industry is desirable.
- Ability to prepare and present high-quality management reporting and analysis.
- Strong stakeholder skills with the ability to influence across operational front-line teams and corporate stakeholders
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large data sets.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A collaborative people leadership style with a focus on building your team’s capability and engagement.
