Safety Adviser – Civil Construction

Location: Brisbane (Office & Site Based – 50/50)

Industry: Civil Construction, Drilling and Infrastructure

Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + Super

Are you a safety professional passionate about driving a strong safety culture and supporting teams to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes?

We’re looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to join a well-established civil construction company with operations across the Renewables, Infrastructure, and Building & Construction sectors. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mix of office and site environments, enjoys working hands‑on with project teams, and wants to make a meaningful impact on safety performance and culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement and maintain WHS management systems in accordance with company procedures and WHS legislation.

- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

- Support hazard identification, risk assessment, and control implementation.

- Coordinate and deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and pre‑start briefings.

- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and close‑out of corrective actions.

- Support operational teams with safety planning for:

- Drilling and piling operations

- Working at heights and in confined spaces

- Lifting and crane operations

- Traffic management and mobile plant

- Working near live services

- Prepare safety reports, maintain documentation, and assist with audits.

- Actively promote and strengthen a positive, proactive safety culture across all projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum)

- Construction Industry White Card

- Demonstrated experience in civil construction, drilling, or piling

- Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation and standards

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems

- Current First Aid and CPR certification

Desirable:

- Diploma of WHS or equivalent

- ICAM or similar investigation training

- Internal auditor qualification (ISO 45001 preferred)

- Experience with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 systems
