Mount Gambier, Australia G'day Group Full time

About Us

At G’day Group, Australia’s largest regional hospitality provider, our Support Office team is at the heart of innovation, powering the success of over 300 unique locations across Australia. From technology and finance to marketing and operations, our diverse roles offer opportunities to shape the future of travel with creativity, strategic thinking, and a collaborative spirit.

We provide a dynamic environment where professionals in our Support Office team can thrive with the flexibility to balance work and life, while contributing to a company that prioritizes growth, employee wellbeing, and excellence.

If you/'re a forward-thinking professional eager to make a real impact, G’day Group is the place to elevate your career.

The Role

At the G/'day Group, we are in the middle of an exciting technical and cultural transformation. Our current front-end integrates three different technologies: Kentico CMS, JavaScript, and Flutter Web. While this has served us in the past, this combination is preventing us moving at speed.

We are migrating to a unified modern front-end platform that unifies our technology, creates clean separation between content management and core application logic, and enables modern development practices. You will be a key agent in this transformation, moving from our current complex architecture to a unified, modern system that enables rapid, reliable delivery.

This role will require you to:

- Build and design the new unified front-end architecture that replaces our current multi-technology stack
- Establish pragmatic testing practices that enable rapid, confident releases without excessive test maintenance burden
- Take ownership of front-end services and drive continuous improvement
- Work with product and design teams to deliver end-to-end customer experiences
- Help champion our accountability culture through weekly Friday showcases

Success will look like:

- Engineers can deliver and iterate with confidence under a pragmatic automated testing approach
- Daily releases instead of infrequent, risky deployments
- Clean separation between content management and core application functionality
- Teams focus on creating genuine user and business value, not just shipping features

Your Experience

You will have tertiary qualifications in computer science, Information Technology or a related field, plus strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React/NextJS, Vue, Angular). You will have experience working in a high-accountability, high-performance engineering culture. You will have proven ability to take ownership and drive improvements in complex systems. Experience implementing pragmatic test strategies - knowing when to write unit, integration, or E2E tests for maximum confidence with minimum maintenance overhead.

Our engineering principles are:

- Critical Thinking- Challenge assumptions, propose alternatives
- Take Ownership and Accountability- Follow through on commitments, be transparent about progress
- Bias Towards Action- Start finishing, stop starting
- Iterative Delivery- Small increments, regular feedback, continuous improvement
- Holistic Thinking- Consider broader product and system implications
- Pragmatic Quality- Balance automation, observability, and maintainability
- Highly Valued:Experience migrating from complex, fragmented architectures, background in system consolidation or technical debt remediation, knowledge of monorepo architectures.

With our principles in mind, we need a skilled engineer who thrives on architectural transformation, takes ownership of outcomes, and wants to be part of transforming how we deliver software.

We/'re not looking for someone who wants a comfortable, traditional front-end role. We need a skilled engineer who thrives on architectural transformation, takes ownership of outcomes, and wants to be part of transforming how we deliver software.
